My husband brought me in the first rose of the season...just popping it in a glass. I set it on the window ledge in my studio. Instead of the glass, I "made up" a weird vase by transferring news print to the picture. Everything in the painting is imagination... thinking as I went. It is fun to just play and paint at the same time.
