AT GHOST RANCH
At Ghost Ranch
transparent watercolor on 140# papeer
11x15 not matted
My goal was to paint three paintings from the same photo, each with a different medium. This was the first one, using transparent watercolor. Originally, I was not happy, especially with the front. It seemed so dark. After finishing the other two, I was even more unhappy. So I took a small piece of Mr. Clean (original) and wet it and then carefully rubbed out a lot of the front area and also some of the mountain on the left side. When you do this, you have to keep blotting away the wet color that is being removed. When it was completely dry, I added a loose wash of yellow in the front and some burnt sienna on the mountain. I am finally happy with it, thanks to Mr. Clean.
